[2003-09-11 - 8:07 a.m.] - there's something about you

hey, guess who went to bed at eleven at night and rose at seven in the morning? I don't know, who is this stranger sleeping in my bed?

two! cups! of coffee.

I had to write a one-page response to the article "Man's Nature Is Evil," by ancient Chinese philosopher Hsün Tzu, this morning. my response mostly consisted of, "no it's not, stupid."

I must also read Nikolai Gogol's "Diary of a Madman" and wash my face. perhaps breakfast, as well. cereal or toast? cereal? or toast?

It's true that I live a stimulating life.

and speaking of my healthy fantasy life-- I may have mentioned this previous, but I was reading Harry Potter fic at Loudon when my little sister came up behind me and said something like,

"does that say Hermione?"

I minimized the window and said, "well, yes," then explained about fanfiction (leaving out the pervier aspects). She was excited and asked if she could read it. I said NO. I explained that some of the Harry Potter stories online weren't appropriate for her; and she asked if I would find some for her to read that were appropriate. I said I'd try.

After that, she asked me often if I'd found any yet and I always said no. I mean, come on: I need my daily ration of porn, I don't have time to be fooling with that other stuff. Eventually, though, I felt bad and told her,

"listen, I can't find any, but how about this-- I'll write you a Harry Potter story. just tell me anything you want in a story and I'll write it."

So Christina thought for a moment, then said, "what was that girl you were talking about one time . . ?"

I don't remember talking to Christina about any girls in relation to Harry Potter, ever.

She said, "I think her name was-- Sue, something Sue?"

" . . Mary Sue?"

"yeah!"

I grimaced and said, "baby, I can't write a story about-- Mary Sue."

Her face fell. "Why not?"

"uh, it's complicated. But, come on, something else. What do you want to read about?"

So she thought for a while and then, by some act of (a) god's mercy (b) my mind control, she asked specifically for something I'd already started working on. which I shan't yet tell you about, but.

Pete Wisdom as Severus Snape. c'mon, y'all.

This (my sister, not pete) leads to an interesting thought. She is now ten and a half years old. I was eleven when I had my Big Gay Blossoming. I remember feeling just so aware and self-contained when I was eleven; but then I look at Christina and she's so short.

so surely she can't know much. right, lise? devon?

haha! I keed, I keeed my peeps!

and that's all from this Starjammer.

ps - oh shit! I just realized it's september eleventh. you're all going to make poignant posts about our country and loss and remembrance. but you know what? it's important that I ramble about harry potter and my day. otherwise the terrorists have won.

pps - I don't mean to so glib about what's probably still painful for a lot of people. but I don't recognize the anniversary of, say, the walking of the Trail of Tears or the bombing of Hiroshima either. everything you are is built as much on death as it is on life.

ppps - but you're not horrible. I love you all the time. c'mere.
