[2001-04-07 - 1:48 p.m.] - birdlike
We were all wounded in some domestic war.
I just ate a sunflower seed with a worm in it. I choose to feel bird-like, rather than traumatized. This is my power.
It's all about how we feel, right?
Something about the Italian language. "ti amo" means "I love you" but it is not used in the same way that English-speaking people use it. We're like, I love you, man, to anyone for whom we have powerful positive feelings. In Italian, if you say "ti amo", what you're saying is, without exception, "I want to have sex with you." You would never say "I love you" to your grandma. unless you were like, a freak.
In Italian, if you want to say "I love you" in the sense that we use it, you say, "te voglio bene." This means, "I mean you well."
It changes things, doesn't it? Things become simpler. Either you mean me well or you don't. Do you mean me well? do I mean you well? If you mean me well, you're my friend, and there aren't any-- complications to that. Nothing to blame. nothing to apologize for. Nothing so hurtful as, do you love me or don't you.
that is all.
