[2001-02-13 - 01:26:02] - the unpardonable sin.

Interesting thing about Christian theology, children.

There is one unpardonable sin. Is it murder? Rape? The exploitation of children? No. The one unforgivable crime is blasphemy. Irreverance.

So, maybe you knew that. I knew that. But then we ask, what kind of blasphemy can't be forgiven? Irreverence to whom? God, right? You go around claiming to be the reincarnated Christ, there's no going back, there's no pardon for you. --Not so. According to the bible, God is perfectly okay with being blasphemed. So's Jesus.

You may not blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

Huh?

The Holy Spirit is referenced countless times in the Christian scriptures, but only once does it actually say what it is. In the book of John, the Holy Spirit is defined as "The Comforter".

So. Burn and pillage, if you must-- rape and overtake. But do not turn away from Comfort. You laugh it off, you pretend like you don't need it . . you won't be allowed into the Kingdom of Heaven. You are DONE.

See? Christians can be interesting.

"You gotta just let him," Joey said, holding ice to his eyebrow. "The real danger is in moving." Lance nodded. The real danger always was.
