[2001-01-11 - 16:25:46] - white dust in the air
I probably never mentioned this before, but. I got the idea to go on a pilgrimage when I went out to the field this one time to bleed to death. It was, sometime in Spring, and still cold outside, but I sat there for a very long time before thinking, "Don't do this. You're a believer."
So I got the idea to go on a pilgrimage instead. I mean, a pilgrimage is supposed to be its own kind of suicide, right?-- it's a journey from point A to point B, and when you get to B, you're done.
I ended up going on more of a vacation than a pilgrimage. I guess I just don't know how to do it right, nobody ever showed me. --I wrote about it in my first journal entry, actually. I mentioned that I saved a turtle. The whole thing lasted about a week, less than, and when I came back everything was the same, and I started school shortly after that.
So, anyway.
I had two classes-- Italian and Folklore-- yesterday. Today I have Poetry, Religious Communities, and Nonsense. Monday I have Symbols of Jesus. That's one foreign language class, three English classes, and two religious studies classes. Quite alot for someone with no work or religion, huh?
Look. It was a full moon two nights ago, and I went outside late to go to Ely's-- and my cat, Khan, came up to me and mewed and basically said, come on. So I followed him, and he led me up and down the yard, and up and down the street, and then he tried to lead me into the neighbor's yard. And I said, I can't go into the neighbor's yard. And he said, yeah, c'mon. And I said, no, I won't. And I climbed into Spike and drove to Ely's house, and we went to the Waffle House where I made her listen to the Unchained Melody.
What I'm saying is, maybe I'm not a believer anymore.
I gotta go put my shoes on and go to class and sit in front of some guy while he gives a four hundred dollar lecture on iambic pentameter. And, for some reason, my advisor thought I needed to take a class on nonsense. Like I don't have nonsense down to an art.

It finally decided to snow here, but it hasn't put its heart into it. It's kind of an accidental snow. There's just enough in the air to know that the air isn't clear - something is coming down. There's snow on the tree limbs and leaves and rocks. But I can still see more ground than snow. It's just white dust in the air.
